First time posting - have owned my LGE for 3 months and I want to do a pork butt so it will be ready to eat about 3pm Sat. I am working with - a boneless (are these OK - seems like most articles mention bone-in?) 6.5lb butt. It seems like the popular opinion is 1.5 - 2 hrs per lb @ 250 dome temp. Will the cooking time be different using boneless? Why are people cooking for 20+ hrs - is a cooking time of 10 - 13 hours realistic? Thanks for your valuable insights .... CampyMan

the pork butt reaches plateau between 165-180 and sits there sometime (depending on the animal) and then proceeds to target temp.
mine take 19hrs approx @ 225F , with target temp 203F -
It's really best to go by cooking grid temp since the dome can be up to 30 degrees off at the start of a cook. Plan on about 2 hours per pound at around 235 cooking grid temp. I hope you have a BBQ Guru. Otherwise, you will need to check on your fire every couple of hours durig the night. Also check out NW's pork site:
