'Cat fan,[p]You can reuse the plank over and over. The char will make the flavoring stronger though. That may be a good thing.[p]The charring gives it the flavor, so charring is good. I made the mistake of over soaking the plank the first time i used it, and it didn't flavor the fish enough. Now, I just wet the plank down under the sink for a minute or so. Works just fine. If you are cooking at hotter temps, you would want to soak it longer. But at 300-400, you don't need to over soak it.[p]By the way, for salmon, try Alder. Its the best.
