Rib-eye with smoked garlic and veg cooked on the MM ... and two new egg converts

Last night's cook, a monster rib-eye coated with smoked garlic, black and red pepper and sea salt, cooked on the LBGE.  Served with veg cooked on the MM. And our dinner guests are now BGE converts.

    Was the steak surface really as read as it appears in the pic ?  Was that from the red pepper? 

    Did you reverse sear?

    Thanks. The steak is just how it came out, the red pepper was simply for flavour. The photograph doesn't have any colour enhancements, I just sharpened it a bit after reducing it in size to make it post-able on internet fora.

    It was a direct cook, I posted details on my food blog.
