Found this in BGE Lump

I've had rocks before but never some sort of twisted metal strapping.

I wouldn't want a trip to the Emergency Room because of this. #howmanystiches?

Banding material. If it makes you feel any better I have found it in a bag of Rockwood as well.

Why the Emergency Room, do you eat the lump?

My guess it was on a piece of wood that was burned to make the limp and they missed it in filling the bags. I believe I have heard of nails and railroad spikes in bags before. That's on reason I use Rockwood. I have only found the occasional small rock.

@FlashkaBob, the fork is not next to food so I guess it is ok.

@FlashkaBob, the fork is not next to food so I guess it is ok.

Um, if someone reached in a bag to grab the large pieces it would slice the sh#t out of your finger)s.

@THEBuckeye - why would you reach into the bag? Just dump it out! It all burns just fine... except the stray rocks and banding material.

That's the banding material from the slab bundles. You'll occasionally find it in ours too. Usually it pulls out in one long strand--but if it breaks into a few smaller pieces, it blends in with the lump in the baggers easily.

I dump and don't give a rat's about the size of the pieces until it gets down to mostly dust . Others, I've read, actually separate their lump. Ya never know.

Depending on what I'm doing I may reach into the bag to grab pieces so I can stack/arrange efficiently (maximize amount of lump without restricting air flow). Therefore I can see this happening.

I like the flavor. I'll go back and forth with Rockwood, Sugar Maple and BGE. Just depends what I'm cooking the mood for. I also like to support by non-Ace independant dealer.

I had about a 6" length of that in one of my bags of Royal Oak in the past couple of years.

I always dump my lump into a couple plastic storage bins so stuff like that is never really a problem.

since BGE is R/O, i'm guessing yes.

if i stopped buying lump brands because they'd had something in the bag that wasn't supposed to be there, i'd be forced to use a propane grill
