well I can't open the lid to my small. I had it up around 500°. I saw the gasket was semi melted. Unfortunately I shut the lid when the gasket was still gooey. Now it cooled down a good bit and now I can't open it. I don't want to pry it open. Alternatives?

I did the same on the MM last week. Took one of those 7 in 1 scraper tools and used the curved cutter side to go around between the felt. Worked great.

Take a putty knife and slowly work it around between the gasket when it is completely cooled. I'm afraid that's really the only way.1 large BGE, Spartanburg SC

Take the Daisy wheel off, reach down in through the dome vent and rotate the food grid so that you can pour some lump in the unit. Then light it off with some oil soaked towels through the bottom vent ... or the top. When it gets hot again, it should open up.

Also, as soon as I got it opened, I PM Ron.

Just light a fire on the bottom vent and it will loosen upColumbia, SC --- LBGE 2011 -- MINI BGE 2013
