Replacement for the Egg Mates side tables?

I would like to replace my egg mate side tables on my Lg.  Any suggestions?  I was thinking of using cutting boards 11 x 20x 1/2 and screwing them in from the bottom of my brackets.  Let me know any other ideas.  Thanks.

    Cutting boards work well--plastic the wooden ones that are made from glued up strips will split. Personally i would build a table. Or a countertop of some kind. Honestly not hard. And the extra space is sooo nice.
