I like how it's been working out for me.Houston, TX - LBGE -
I have one, bought it from the start, same day I bought the BGE. Did not mess around with the ceramic. I was worried about breaking it. I love the cast iron plate setter, but have no reference for anything else.
Works really well for reverse sear. I do inderect with the CI plate setter in, pull the steaks, flip the plate setter, raise the temp and then drop the steaks on the plate setter...Johns Creek, GA - LBGE and a some stuff -
Another alternative is the large adjustable rig and the bayou classic 14 inch griddle. Griddle can sit on the rig's crossbars. You'll have the flexibility of moving the cast iron griddle up and down on the rig - either side close or far from the lump, depending on your cook.
Plus, the rig will give you a raised grid direct option and the ability to grow your set-ups as needed. And the handy option of lifting everything out without taking anything apart when you want to get at the lump to add smoking wood.

I have a CI platesetter from Innovations by Chance really like it. Works as expected for indirect cooks and works really well to sear steaks too!
