I did my first batch of chili tonight in my DO. It turned out awesome and the steak and bacon were a nice change. I used some of Dr bbq's recipe.

Thanks guys! Yes the steaks were grilled up for the chili. I had a REALLY hard time grillin steaks and then not eating them, so I just grabbed another beer while I was cutting them up and it helped. In the end it was worth it. I never had chili with bacon and steaks instead of ground meat but I will probably do it like that from now on. I might have to buy another DO, that 10" almost wasn't big enough, there was only 1 bowl left for my family, and my 16" might be to big. Good excuse right!

looks like a great batch. Love me some egged chili. Get the biggest DO you can fit on your egg, you won't regret it.

Your cut up steaks look good but now I have a question. What would it do to run that cooked steak in a meat grinder to get chili grind??? I have done it raw but never cooked.Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Plus a couple Pit Boss Pellet Smokers.

Mickey, I don't know but after simmering for about an hour the cubes of steak just about melted in your mouth!! I will have to get my 16" oven out and see how it fits, but I think a 14" would be just right!
