Caveman Filets

Did the filets caveman style, direct on the coals, based on all of @hapster 's comments the past few days. Finished to temp raised direct. They turned out great, but I think I prefer the crust from a hot CI pan for searing when doing filet. I'll probably save caveman for Ribeyes and Pit Beef, where it really shines.

I'm glad you tried it... I'll have to do the CI sear soon to compare. I do like the caveman crust on my ribeyes and strip steaks though...

I bought a spider and CI grate to be able to sear close to the coals and then tried caveman style the week after... 100$ in the garbage... I never used the CI grate after that.
