Any substitutes for a SS grid for a medium? I still have the original porcelain grid along with a CI. The porcelain is finally shot, but I don't feel like spending $45 on one at the mothership. Didn't know if other people had used something else instead of the factory grid that might be cheaper.

There is a dearth of accessories for the medium. 45 bucks maybe the cheapest you'll find. There is a guy that does custom grids but it's 65 for the medium.

If I were you, I would just get rid of the shot porcelain grid and use the CI grid full time. It keeps a better season that way. I only have a CI grid for one of my LBGE and I can't find a reason to buy the stainless.L x2, M, S, Mini and a Blackstone 36. She says I have enough now....eggAddict from MN!

Personally, I like the cast iron grates better than SS. A little more maintenance but I think they are worth it. Other than that I guess any 15" grid should get the job done.XL BGE - Med BGE - Mini BGE - Traeger Pellet GrillsHillsboro OR

@r8rs4lfThey are pricey but REALLY nice. The Naked Whiz did a thorough review and gave high marks. 304 SS 1/4" or 3/8" rod.

Brinkman has a 15.5" grid that fits. I ordered it from replacement parts section of their website for less than $20. I use it for raised grid cooking. It's not as heavy as the BGE SS grid because the grids are narrower diameter. I like the BGE SS grid better (more heft) and would probably spend the extra money for it or go cast iron.

Oh, I was thinking something like Mickey's custom grate.r8rs4lf said:Eggcelsior said:@r8rs4lfThey are pricey but REALLY nice. The Naked Whiz did a thorough review and gave high marks. 304 SS 1/4" or 3/8" rod.
I think that was a one-off at a local metalworks place. -
