Question on finish/paint cracking

Options

I have had my egg for a few months, and it now has "spider web" cracking over the entire surface. Also, it now gets blistering hot to the touch, which it didn't used too?

Is this normal? Not sure what other info to give. I live in a temperate climate where it doesn't get above 90 or below 30 very often. I generally use it for smoking and grilling and it rarely has gone over 600, usually in the 200-400 range.

Thoughts appreciated.
