Thinking I may try a turbo butt this weekend. Give me the low down? say a 8 pounder how long would it take and what temps to cook it at? Same for a 5 pounder.
Thanks
I got a 5 hour window on Saturday to try something new.

According to using the search I am guessing for a 7lb bone in butt cooked at 325 for ~5 hours (internal temp of 200 and the bone pulls out)?
With the temps being that high is it worth adding wood chips or will they burn up too fast and not make a difference?

I go 325 toll 160 and wrap. Around 45-60 minutes. Yes, add the chunks. When you wrap bump the temp up if necessary.Green egg, dead animal and alcohol. The "Boro".. TN

Now to decide - pork butt or APL chicken thighs?

I like it like this:TURBO BUTTS.· Hot'n fast, 350 for 5 hours to internal to 200 and then let it rest for an hour or so wrapped in towels in a ice chest. Falls apart and oh so good! Have fun!· Be sure you only get a 7lb butt or so for the time (or a couple for more protein ). Note: The butt box is not required.I use mustard & Bad Byron's Butt Rub (both not required). I put on the rub, then mustard, then rub once more. No need to foil during cook.Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Plus a couple Pit Boss Pellet Smokers.

I forgot to mention on an 8 lb butt going turbo I cut the butt in half.. 4 hours maximumGreen egg, dead animal and alcohol. The "Boro".. TN

butt box?
I am planning on using Bad Byron's - love that stuff on pork.
Will the large Egg hold at 350 for 5 hours on a load of lump?
