Do you leave the daisy wheel closed or leave open part way ?

I have the party Q and I never run my daisy more than 50% open, usually cracked open to about 25% and the bottom slider of course sealed up with the party Q adapter.

I have (and love) a PartyQ.

Slide the daisy wheel so close to closed that a toothpick will just slide through the opening, and let the PartyQ do it's thing!
