The swing grate group buy has got me thinking I would like to get a small to go with my large but I am having a hard time justifying the cost when it is just usually me and da wiff I am cooking for Been thinking about an adj rig to gain a spot for my veggies or anything other than meat. Now I am thinking the swing grate might work, so I am looking for advice from the guys that have both or either.

IMHO...I have adj rigs,AR, and i have not encountered any cook that they could not be beneficial. Can cook up to 4 levels, with extender, and the options / styles seem to be well thot out. The ARs have changed my cooking, can't say enough. Tom, at Ceramic Grill has been very helpful, always offering suggestions.
For what its worth, the AR and accessories cannot be beat. Also, I am not affiliated with CG in any way, just saying. But great product. BTW, as far as swing grates, have not tried. But the AR can be purchased with oval type sliding grates, allowing changing positions, food, etc.

The AR is much more versatile than the swing grate in my opinion. I am speaking about the swing grate from ceramic grill works and not the grid extender in the group buy thread. I plan on getting the AR but the extender serves a purpose similar to the swing grate for a price much more in line with what I think it's worth. 10/10 times I would get the AR over the swing grate. The extender will be a tool in my egging arsenal as well.

The AR is a completely different beast and wins hands down.
But come on buddy, buy that small. You'll love it and never regret it!_______________________________________________XLBGE -
I have AR and love it because it allows you multiple grids (not limited to 2). Getting the extender too so I can swing the grates as opposed to taking it out completely. Different purpose. Was thinking more grilling for the extender and low and slow with AR because you dont need to move it as often as grilling. If you're thinking of small, depending on whether you want to travel with it, I love the mini more and more even though I just bought it 3 weeks.

Have the swing grate from CGW and absolutely love it......high quality and so simple to use and adding/removing top tier during a cook. Was exactly what I had in mind when I started looking for something. Plus I much prefer the low carbon steel versus the stainless steel of the AR, but that's me.
