My wife got these for me for my birthday a week before I actually got my egg. Any use for them? Supposedly you leave them in the steaks while cooking. Could they actually survive those 600-700 degree searing temps? Should I return those for another more useful accessory?

  • IMO, take 'em back & buy a Thermapen.  You will never be sorry.

They are pretty useless. Get a good thermometer like the Thermapen or the much more budget friendly rt600c, both from Thermoworks.
