I apologize if this had been covered in detail before but...... What are the notches in the fire ring for?
When in doubt add more pepper.

This probably wasn't their original intent, but I just ordered a spider from the Ceramic Grill Works and the five legs of the spider rest in the legs of the fire ring. The spider holds a wok among other uses.Jim

The new fire rings have 3 notches in the top that the plate setter sits in. This has come out in the last couple of months.
