Brisket too long?

I have an LBGE and the 13 lb brisket i bought is too long, Costco whole packer.  I need to trim it but want to make sure i do it right.  Any tips would be appreciated.  Can i screw it up?  Thanks a mill

    Make two tin foil balls about 3in in diameter. Place them in the middle of the brisket. That should make it fit until it cooks down.

    I cut the point from the flat before cooking and with the point getting done before the flat, you can pull the point off when it's done.
