Hi all-I wandered into a store today looking for a fire brick and walked out with a pretty good deal ($7) on a new rectangle Grill 'N Stone. The problem is it doesn't fit in my egg. Can I cut it down to size with my tile saw? If so, any precautions I should follow? If I ruin it I won't be heartbroken, on the other hand if I don't cut it down I could always use it in my oven. Thanks! Jeff

carbide wet saw may work but if you cut tile you know already your at risk of cracking it or the corner chipping out on you . best of luck

Thanks bigphil-When you say "risk of cracking" I assume you mean when I actually cut the stone, as opposed to having it crack when I use it?  I've only used my wet-tile saw a few times so I'm no expert with tile or ceramics.

Has anyone else ever successfully cut ceramic pieces (other pizza stones, plate setter, bricks) and then used them in your egg?

    Thanks!

    Jeff

I bought 3 fire bricks from the local construction supply company (1$ each) and cracked them in half with a cold chisel and  sledge hammer.  It is obviously not a clean break (straight line) but it is good enough for raised grate purposes.
