Cypress egg table

I bought a cypress egg table back in the summer. I was told by several people to just leave it natural, that it was a very durable wood and would be fine. Basically it still looks good except for a few cooking stains. I now want to put something on it. Any suggestions? Stain, clear coat? Thanks.
