Birthday Bash Shenanigans

My 30th birthday bash is saturday. My Bday is on Dec 20, and I never do anything for it. So this year my wife said I should do something since its the big 30. So I invited abou 70 people and I am cooking pulled pork, pulled beef, chick quarters, Mac and cheese, and slaw. All on my XL Egg. I will use this to post pics and happenings the next two days. Enjoy.

Two 19lb pork shoulder brining in the cooler now. They are going on around 12 tomorrow. Figuring 20-22hrs cook time. Typically they are a little less on my old grill, so I am giving a little extra for the Egg. I can control the temp better. More rest time if needed!
Sauce and rubs being made tonight, all homemade. Hope y'all enjoy the shenanigans, it's my middle name on Thursday's in monthst that end in R, only have for letters or start with J. Go there. I write it.

They're making you do all the work on your birthday, but if you're like me, we wouldn't have it any other way!

  • Haha yeah, this is what I wanted. I love cooking and just watching people eat. I usually don't eat until the next day. Plus I drink beer. And got some good friends I haven't seen in a while coming Go there. I write it.
  • Paul,

Funny isn't it? Cook yer ass off and then can't stomach what you made. The thrill is watching your friends and family mow down.

  • Good mownin' good mownin".  Coffee in hand and fire pit aroarin', pork bout to get wrapped.  Egg angered me at 0300hrs and right now.  Temps all over the place.  a little wind is blowing now, but that just started, at 0300 there was no wind.  This is the first time I have had such a temp issue.   firebox was completely cleaned, brand new RO.  I will just chalk it up to "one of those cooks".
Hope yalls mownin' is good.  pics to come.
and Steve, It does not bother me anymore, when I first started cooking it did.  Now, give me a little of my mac and cheese and  beer, I happier than a possum in the cat food bag.
