Not sure it will make the bottom of the egg break off as good as the old chimnea stand.

Yes, a nice improvement over the chimnea stand which could be a problem.  I am looking to sink a Mini (bottom only) into a table and make a little hibachi type grill for guest to sit around and grill off meat/veggies/fruit and the like.  Cheap ($150) outdoor fun.

I made a small stand for my mini for camping and then made it to fit into my table for my small and mini that I keep in my garage for cooking out front when I set up a tv in the garage for football.
