Steak on cast iron grill

Since they had steaks on sale this weekend and I just got my new 13" cast iron grill to fit on my spider in my large BGE, I did some steaks, baked potatoes, and grilled veggies. All came out very good.
There was a lot of smoke.
This picture you can see the steak a little better.
Brushed the steaks with a little olive oil with garlic, thyme, rosemary, and oregano, then hit with salt and pepper. Did the same with the veggies. Cooked the potatoes first, about 1 hour at 350º, then the veggies (both on the adjustable rig), the put in the cast iron grill, let it heat up right next to the coals for about 10 minutes, and then put the steaks on.

Tom, how long per side did you cook them? I've overcooked my steaks at the top of the ring, even at 1:30 per side; can't imagine how quickly they cook down by the coals with the spider..._____________

They all got the same time on the first side - probably about 3 minutes. Second side varied because I like it rare, another wanted medium, and another well-done (the horror!) Rare was probably a minute, others longer - went by how firm the steak was - soft is rare, springy is medium, firm is well-done.
I really like the cast iron grill on the spider - going to do some tri-tips with it next week. Start on the cast iron, then set up for indirect and finish at 350º on the adjustable rig.
