Today I finally got around to trying to get my dome to sit on the base with better overlap (Off by 1/2 the gasket previously). I went to the hardware store, and this was the bolt they had for me:
Serendipity?
As a side note, when I loosened up the bolts on the hinge (not the spring bolts) and also put my straps closer to each other on the respective parts of the egg, the alignment was better than since it's ever been.
