Here is some of the burn area we drove through. Looked like a wasteland.

Thanks Kent. They really don't do the area justice. So dang beautiful....beyond words. Wished I'd had the pole and tent.

Great looking hike Molly, I bet the forest smells wonderful. That sure is beautiful country. Great looking dinner also! I have never tried elk but it looks good and your homemade sausage no doubt is wonderful with it.

Funny you should mention smells Blair. So fabulous to smell them through the lows and highs of the hike.

My aunt cooked up a beaver several years ago,it were'nt bad, I skinned and processed it,she soaked the pieces in buttermilk for a day, then breaded and fried it.It wuz tastee.I made a rug outta the pelt. ;) NOT KIDDING! :) You gotta know how to remove the glands. It is sweeter than Raccoon and not as greasey as Possum.Goes good with taters and biscuits-n-gravy,but what does'nt??? When I lived up north I loved the smells and how they differed between the hardwood forest, softwood forest and the sea shore. Great photos Molly, thanks for sharing. :)
