Had a med. here in Iowa last summer $300 used once. I called talked to the lady & I set on the pot to long. When I went to buy it they had sold it 10 min earlier.

I once missed a LBGE for $25 at a yard sale. DOH DOH DOH DOH DOH!The Naked Whiz

I just bought a mini for $140 and a small for $175 on CL and they were both in great shape other than needing a little cleaning and the small needed a hinge.
-
its amazing what people are getting rid of at unheard of prices...seems like a lot for that one..i just bought a medium a month or so ago for a little over $500 without the nest...i will have to keep my eyes peeled for some deals!

This wouldn't be a member from here would it? I only know 1 from Kittrel, but he's been gone for a while. Used to serve the troops here in NC. If it is him I hope he's okay. Selling an EGG has to hurt.
I look often enough hoping to find a dirt cheap 2nd EGG, but I almost never see great deals and nothing that I've been close to jumping on. Why can't I find the $100 EGGs. LOL. -
ha ha we are in the same boat...no luck with sweet deals on this end when it comes to about anything

Way too much money for the Med. You could buy one NIB and get the lifetime warranty. Use the Green Book for a place to start when it come to used BGE prices.

But Wess just posted in the past week that there is no such thing as MSRP for eggs, yet your site lists them and refers to them prominently.
Who should we all believe? -
So you think dealers don't have a MSRP to work from? Dream on! I will admit, I need to update some of the prices to reflect the price increase on the site. Believe who you want, does not bother me. But when I go looking for used eggs, I will stick by those guidlines and remember BT's number rule of sales. If you are dumb enough to buy it, someone is smart enough to sell it.

What I said was that I didn't "believe" that there is an MSRP....

If in fact there is one you would certainly expect it would be posted on Big Green Egg.com along side the egg specs and description. A retailer has many factors that affect the final selling price, or better yet..profit of any egg they sell. If they all sold for the same "MSRP" there would be no need for anyone to shop for an egg -
I stand corrected and apologize for mis-quoting you.

My dealer has a sheet in his book that lists the dealer price in one column, and the MSRP in another. When looking up the price of a table for me, he pointed to the MSRP column and said that he used to be able to charge that price all day long, no questions asked, until a new dealer came into town, and started charging 10% less. The new guy started picking up so much of the business, that then all of the local dealers had to lop 10% off of their prices, too.

No apologies necessary...we're cool..

While BGE dose have MSRPs, they don't take in to account shipping costs. Many dealers have to charge more than MSRP because of this. The MSRP reflects a low margin for the dealer.
