Very recently someone posted in a thread about pork butts how they used a garden saucer under the drip pan instead of a plate setter on their 15-year-old Small BGE. I've searched and searched, and can't find it again.
I tried it with a small 4.3-lb. butt and used a pizza stone on the grid instead of a clay saucer, and it was a breeze.
I put apple juice and water in the drip pan, used mustard and Coarse Dizzy Dust on the meat.
Used 225° and 190° internal temps on Grandma Guru.
It took about 2 hours per lb., and the drip pan was solid char, even though I refilled a couple of times.
This was so easy I can't think of any reason to go back to the plate setter. I should have put spacers under the drip pan, though, to try to eliminate that bed of char the V-rack was stuck in.
Does anyone know who this old-timer is? I want to give credit where it is due.

Thanks, but that was not the one. It was only within the last couple of weeks, I believe. This is what I printed out...don't know if the text will come through, but this is his picture.
Looks like one of the color cartridges is going.

The text from his post was the key. Upper right, put cursor in "site search" box. Don't enter text, just hit Enter. Then, select radio button for "exact phrase" and type The photo shows a setup. Or any other exact phrase from what you saved. Hit Enter.
I tried searching before, but couldn't find anything. Once I had the text, it was easy. Glad to help, Darlin'.I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!
