I love creating dinner based on a leftover! We had some leftover chuck roast that I was wanting to use...a lump of frozen dough...some onions, green pepps and mushrooms were the makings of calzone on the small. Started with my innards...
Mooshed up some mozz, ricotta and fresh basil...
Ready to tuck up with a little jack on top...
Little egg wash on top, and barely fit on my small stone in the small
Browned up nicely; cooked about 12 minutes at 500
Ready to eat with some simple crushed tomatoes on the side.
The three of us (tucker too! :woohoo: ) enjoyed it immensely !

I've never had a calzone as far as I can recall. But that one sure looks delicious!I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

Wow! That looks good. We make a lot of chuck roasts and we just finished our last one today as well. We will have to try a calzone sometime. I see you used some bread dough. Was it store bought bread dough did you let it rise and knock it back down? Thanks, Tim

You knocked that one outta the park~!BEAUTIFUL!
-
Jason, thanks. I picked up the fresh dough last weekend from our local pizza joint - it's soooo much better than store-bought and no more expensive; never have wanted to bother with making my own!
-
Thanks, Michael! Haha... Yea there was enough:silly: here he is with his Christmas present from Grandma! :P
-
Tim, thanks, it was a lump of fresh(then frozen by me) pizza dough that I bought last weekend at a local pizza place.
-
Thanks, Hoss!

Good. Like you I have some pizza dough in the freezer we got from our local (well not so local an hour drive from home) pizza joint. I bought 5 dough balls big enough to make a 22 inch pizza for a $1. each.

A very clever creation - you sure have a knack for turning leftovers into fantastic eats!

I've got a roast cooking right now. What a great idea for left overs...LBGE Katy (Houston) TX

Elizabeth, thanks. Honestly, I enjoy a meal like this better than a well-planned one, buying all ingredients, etc.

Oh my goodness what a beautiful dog! Perfect for Vermont, I bet he loves the snow.
-
Julia....loved it Loren & I are just talking about it now & it's in our next week's plan
-
Julia, now that is one BIG calzone! Love the ingredients.
-
For me Julia, you could have stopped with that first picture, but the finished product is fantastic!

Julia, what a nice job on the leftovers. I would have been a chicken to cook it that hot, but yours turned out beautifully. If it was me living there where you are, I would never even venture outside, let alone cook out there!Happily egging on my original large BGE since 1996... now the owner of 5 eggs. Call me crazy, everyone else does!
