I just purchased a fresh 24+lbs. bird for Christmas, is it going to fit in my large? I invert the plate setter with grill on top.

I've gotten a 23#'r in mine...definately do a test fit with a cold egg first..you may have to alter your setup..

I did one for thanksgiving 14#. Inverted plate setter, Green feet, then roasting pan. Left the grill out.
I think you may have a hard time getting that to fit. be extra cautious of the dome therm touching your bird and getting an invalid reading. -
Did a 20# for Thanksgiving on LBGE. Platesetter feet up, drip pan, v-rack in pan, bird in v-rack (breast up). Had inches to spare on both ends and on top.

I did and 18LB in November and I was going to put it on the Grill but when I did my test run (prior to starting the EGG)it would not fit. I was worried about the thermometer. I had to remove the grill and place the ceramic feed on the plate setter and it worked out great.

23# work fine for me and someone posted they did a 25#.

GG, I've to ask about the two 'T' probes in the turkey. Looks like one in a leg and the other in the breast. Are they for attaching a clip type thermo and getting meat temp? If you have posted about them before I've missed it. Mike

These are made by Thirdeye and are used to 'plug' the probe hole so the juices don't run out. I also use them when testing with the thermapen. When I checking again I remove the plug and insert the thermapen in the same outer hole but at a different angle then plug once again.

I've done a 24 pounder. Inverted plate setter, three green feet, roasting pan, V-rack to put the turkey on. No grill, not enough room.
