70 year old KA Meat Grinder

So my MIL gave me her meat grinder attachement for a KA mixer. This thing has been passed down a couple generations. She said she's never used it so she gave it to me. I used it for the first time today to make breakfast sausage from some left over rib trimmings. (we are having St. louis style ribs for dinner) It was kind of a spur of the moment thing... I basically partially froze the trimmings, seasoned and cut up and the ground up in the mixer. Wrapped with wax paper, will see tomarrow morning how it tastes. Anyways, back to the grinder. MIL says it's about 70 years old, i don't think it's quite that old, but maybe it is. couldn't find a date anywhere . All metal construction, no plastic, wooden push rod, original box and instructions. The instructions are on some sort of wax paper, not regular paper. They don't make them like they used to, that's for sure. Thought you might find it interesting.

highpress: Awesome gift!! I am a total food history buff, and seeing an old grinder like that brings back memories! When my Grandmother passed, the only things I wanted from her house were her grinder (which she and I used making hash together when I was a kid), and her recipe box. So honestly, I totally appreciate the history behind items like this! I always said I wish old things like that could talk, and tell us their history. Great post, and a great find indeed! I must add, and good for Hobart! They still make quality products today! I would bet if you forwarded your photos to Hobart, they could give you a good estimate on the true age!
