I have done my share of brined and smoked turkeys. And I have done my share of chickens standing up on a sitter. I like the bronze look of the bird. Drying the skin and rubbing it with olive oil gives a wonderful look when it is done and it seals in all the juices.

Has anyone done a turkey this way?
