I have been chucking my charcoal into the egg just above the air holes. However, it is very smoky for some time after lighting. Also I struggle to hold much above 350deg F. I'm using BGE charcoal but the lumps are rather small. Last point my top daisy wheel is very slack. Even when closed lots of smoke leaks around the disk ie it doesn't lie flat. Any advice?
