  • Does everyone actually believe all kamados are made from identical materials? Look past the superficial and open your eyes to the quality of materials used and how they are manufactured . The crows will come home to roost.
  • Still crappy ceramics with heavy metals in the glaze. Will it ever Chip or flake? Care to ingest that?  You can color a turd a different shade, but in the end it is still a piece of...
  • KJ=Kamodo Junk
  • Open lid. Be care it doesnt slam shut and Take springs off hinge. Loosen nuts that hold hinge to band. Manipulate hinge to neutral position. Place white clips on hinge. good to go.
  • USMCSGT323 said: And I forgot to mention that once or twice I've pulled the divider out and filled it to a reasonable level of charcoal (a grill this size is 33 % of a bag) and I only got to 550.  Avg cooking temp I have used since I got it is …
  • You couldn't pay me enough to go back to pre Egg days. Babysit it. Add charcoal etc. Sure everything else can work but is it as consistent and reliable and versatile as an Egg? If you can afford a cabin...you can afford another Egg. Shell out the mo…

  •  I think you should get an Egg. Just use half moon baking stone to do indirect and direct at the same time. Also BGE doesn't have any seams in ceramic. Go green
in Why BGE? Comment by Whirly May 2015
  • It is wishful thinking to believe all ceramic grills have the same build quality. Most products produced today have varying quality of materials, which equals different lifespans and performance. BGE has been around a LOOONG time. I will place my tr…

  • Sorry. I should be more concise. These ceramic grills made in China are made of clay and then fired. Using the term fire clay may or may not be appropriate. in regards to environmental pollution I think we can all agree that China leads the way. sti…

  • http://mobile.nytimes.com/blogs/sinosphere/2014/04/25/after-cadmium-rice-now-lead-and-arsenic-rice/ First  problem you are assuming they use high grade fire clay. We don't know . Secondly they are poisoning their own environment  currently. Not wor…
  • I wouldn't buy any ceramic grill made in China  Besides contaminant issues do you really think the fire clay is better than what BGE uses? green all the way!
  • KJ made in China from fireclay. Lead and cadmium possibilities. Not worth the risk. Green only choice.
  • Stike. Welcome back!
  • Lead and cadmium risk. Made in China out of fireclay. Not as nice of fit and finish. Go green!
  • All interesting info. Not willing to risk lead and cadmium issues. Next one will be Minimax.

  • Are those racks stainless steel? Would half moon baking stones and half moon raised grid accomplish the same thing?
  • Since FUD now is acceptable in these threads. KJ is made in China from fire clay. Do you think there is any lead or cadmium in them? Google lead and cadmium and tell me if it is worth the risk using for food. And don't use the Rutland excuse. Diff…
  • I agree. No major difference in cooking. The concept is centuries old. I disagree on quality. BGE has been around 40 years, this competitor 5 years. Look at the fit and finish. A Kia does not use the same quality of components as a BMW. Nowadays the…
  • In the world of retail there is price, service and quality. You only get 2 of the 3.
  • I think when the unicorn showed up, some people didn't know how to handle it. All that matters is that Egg has launched another great product that I will buy.
  • I was raised that when you are a guest in someone's house you don't criticize the cooking or accommodations. This is BGE's house. We can discuss a variety of topics but need to be careful of what we say AND how we say it. If anyone wants to criticiz…
  • Sounds like all the BGE haters have it figured out...now we just need them to Craigslist their Eggs so we can buy them!
  • Interesting how FUD can work both ways. That is what makes America great!
  • I think $600 is a fair price for what you are getting. I don't care about other products that have been on the market for only 2 or 5 years. What value is a warranty, if a company goes out of business? Worthless. BGE has been at it for 40 years. The…
  • I have bought 30 prime packers from Maple Grove Costco over the last 3 months.  Started at $2.59lb, now they are $3.79/lb.  Been Creekstone Farms most of the time.  Jump on it!
  • Will be back. Great event! You guys do an awesome job.
