  • Thank you for your responses. Ended up with one 20 pounder. She's on the XL now cooking away. I tried the recipe from the Big Green Egg cookbook, eager to find out the end result. Will let you all know and will post some pics as well.  Happy Thank…
  • As previously mentioned, burn time will vary from bag to bag and by brand. I had a bag of Royal Oak and a load of lump lasted me about 2-3 hours before it was all ash. I've also have a bag of BGE brand and a load lasted me about 5-6 hours at 350. …
  • Yes, I've done a few cooks at 4-5 hour mark at 350-400˚ using BGE lump and still have some left over. I always take meat out to warm up before putting on egg. I'm wondering if the other six bags that I bought are going to give me the same iss…
  • GeorgiaBorn, how is you egg smoking as much as it is? Do you use chips or chunks and how long will yours smoke like that for? I've used chips in the past, never tried chunks. I notice when I put the chips on it smoke pretty good for about 10-15 …
  • Ohhh, has it turned out to be a beautiful day. Sun is shining, have some jazz and blues playing in the kitchen. Just got back from Costco and picked up a number of things. Making my little girl some lunch now, wife's tidying up the house, and the…
  • Blair, I saw those posts and boy do they look good. Can't wait for mine to be done to pile some on a roll and dive in!!!
  • Yeah I've learned that in the past. I have become used to dialing in the temp and letting it stay for about 30-45 mins before I put the meats on. I know they will suck some of the temp out and I've played the chasing game a few times.
  • Yeah, i've been using both Egg's long enough and get them dialed in really good. I did not touch the Egg once I put the meat on. Had the XL dialed in to dome temp of 250˚ and let sit for about 40 mins to make sure it was all warmed up and rea…
  • Yes, I have a plate setter with this cook and the grid probe is over the plate setter out of the way of direct heat. I'm guessing I will have to play around more once this cook is done.
  • Hey Blair, thanks for the information. Reading everything I can about this cook. Been looking forward to doing one for months and just haven't had the time. I set my dome temp to 250˚. RIght now I'm looking at my ET-732 and the BBQ temp r…
  • Looking good Pokey, put mine on early this morning. They aren't too big some I'm hoping to have them later this evening. Enjoy!!
  • Hey Ben, we are in the finishing stages of getting ready to order. Send me a message and we can get together.
  • Awesome, thank you guys very much. They are going to be next weekends project. Looking forward to it and having the weekend off. Happy Eggin'!!!
  • So if I'm cooking both 7lb. butts, plan my cook time for the 7lbs. not the combined weight correct?
  • I called BGE on Friday to inquire about purchasing one. Wanted to get my name on the list and find out more about it. Come to find out, it is only a styrofoam prop created for the show they were at. The gentleman I spoke with said that he doesn't…
  • Just talked to my cousin who goes down to one locally about once a week for his restaurant and he's going to take me next time he goes. Time to stock up!!!
  • Hey Bob, How many pounds are the bags and how much you pay per bag? Thanks in advance.
  • Hey Dale, sorry to hear about your loss. That sure looks like a good meal and I'm sure you have had plenty of them with him, so eat up to the memories.
  • I have sent those that have replied an e-mail to get this going. Be sure to reply if you are still interested.
  • I have an XL and a small. The XL is great cause you do not have to worry about having enough space for cooking. Like the others mentioned, if the XL fits in the budget and you have the space, do it up. Well worth it. Also, consider getting one o…
  • Hey Greg, congrats on the addition of the small. That was my first and I still love it. Perfect for most cooks especially if you are cooking for only a few.
  • Looks really good. Been dying to try to make some myself, just can't seem to find the time lately.

  • @Sundown, I already put in for the weekend off at work for the New Hampshire Fest in June!!! Pretty excited to attend.
  • Awesome, I will keep you all posted. If you want to send me a message on here so that I can have your e-mails that would be great. Easier to keep in touch that way. If you know anyone else, spread the word.
  • Yeah, it was super moist. Very good, got eaten up pretty quickly!!
  • Congrats and welcome. You will be sucked in in no time. It's like an addiction. Wait, it is an addiction. Enjoy!!!!
  • One more thing, you would have to travel with your Egg.
  • It came out really good. Like I had mentioned, I used a recipe that I found online but I def should have dug out my mother's. Her recipe is definitely better. Will use her's next time.
  • Michael, what a great idea of putting the mini in the fireplace!! Saves you from having to go outside in the cold or rain. That's awesome.
