Honey...I'm home!

Morning All:
Got home from the hospital yesterday at about 4:30pm and overall tolerting everything...I wasn't able to keep anything down yesterday...Tried to eat a pulled pork sandwich last evening and on the third bite, back up it came...tried some jello later in the evening and though able to eat it all, it didn't stay down for long...this morning tried some buttered toast and could only eat three bite...but at least I didn't throw it up...just finished a small bowl of jello which seems to be staying down (sorry for all the gory details, but it is Halloween). Mostly just feel like crap and very weak, but improving slowly.
The Home Health Care Nurse was here this morning and the therapist should start later today or tomorrow. I do have the CPM machine set up and used it for a couple hours yesterday...planning on at least 4 hours per day for a while with that.
VERY restless night last night and just so happy to have a much better half to take care of me! She's at work at the moment, but will be home for lunch at about 12:15pm. She only works Mon., Wed., & Fri. (8:00am to noon & then 3:00pm to 6:00) so I'm not alone too much (and she gets a break from taking care of me!).
THANKS again for all the notes, good wishes and prayer...they really help with healing process! Will check back in with y'all later!

You must be coming along well because there were no @$%! and *&#$, even between the lines.
Jello is a start. Pulled pork is a reward. Take it easy.

Jay,
I thank God that you are home and healing well. I work a lot with people having nausea and vomiting, so I am going to give you free advice. You don't have to take it.
First, remember that hydration is the most important thing. If you don't eat for a while you will still be aright. Sip on something. Unless sugar is out for some health reason, go for real sugar. It helps the nausea.
Second, if you are keeping liquids down okay then eat. 30 minutes after drinking, eat something small without grease or spice. Toast or crackers. Nothing to drink for another 20-30 min.
Take medicine as needed for the nausea. Phenergan can be prepared in a gel form that you rub in the inside of your wrists. (Everyone should keep this in their fridge). Dehydration will not only land you back in the hospital, it will also slow your healing and leave you filling yuk.

After you are done with the pain pills, advil PM helps a lot for the sleeping part of the recovery.

Glad to hear that you are at home and hanging in there. I've helped my mother through both of her surgeries for knee replacement - I know it's hard. But it gets easier - and you'll be up and egging in no time.

Jay: Welcome back to the forum and to home. Hope your recuperation and therapy go well. For the next several days do not read any of the forum trash that accompanied Zippylip's breakfast throwdown entry, and don't read any Carl Hiaasen novels. Laughing too hard can be rough on the digestive tract, and can tear out stitches. Uglydog (SSBN 659(G))
