are you enjoying a beverage while preparing dinner on the BGE?
my wife is drinkin white wine from a box. i am enjoying some Laphroig Quarter Cask. the cedar plank salmon and acorn squash is chuffing along nicely. might be one more glass and then time for dinner.
what's your poison this evening? it's absolutely fine if it is non-alcoholic. this isn't about booze, it's about relaxing on a friday evening. just so happens that for me it often means scotch. but then again so does monday, tuesday, wednesday.....

I am about to open my second Molson Canadian circa 29/8/10. That was a classic week in brewing.

working here Get off 7:30-8:00, go over to Mom & Dad's, 2 light beers, maybe some popcorn then to bed. That is about every Friday night but not next Friday!
-
Heading out to dinner to celebrate 29 years. Going to be doing some Tangueray and tonic. Right I'm priming myself with some 16 oz Miller lites.
-
that's my boy. i learned to enjoy cheep stuff and mingle with the little people (literally and figuratively) that weekend.
hahaha
enjoy, bud -
popcorn is manna from heaven. you pop your own, right/ no microwave, right?
kids always ask for "daddy popcorn". that's in a pan, with oil and all. very "orville redenbacher" -
wife is out with the ladies tonight...
we ordered a pie... I know. I know.
a little wii with my boys followed by reading them a few pages of the little prince then to bed...
at which point I`ll probably watch a movie I`ve seen before and have some popcorn
wild man!context is important -

-
I'm at the fire station tonight, so it's iced tea for me. Leg quarters on the grill (not an egg) and hope we get to stay in the house.
-
A dram or two of The Balvenie. Great single malt (as is Laphroig) from Islay.
-
I pop mine with oil in a flat bottomed wok on the stove. Works great.
As for tonight - ordering takeout pizza cuz I'm too lazy to egg one. hahahaha! Son and I are drinkin' some Sam Adams Irish Red.I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

Had some Laphroig last week in Norway - started neet and was way more "peaty" than I last recalled. Asked to see the bottle and it recommended adding 2 parts water. Added 1 part water and it was mightyfine.
McCallums when I get home - maybe some Drambuie later
Popcorn? Try Susans popcorn

loving Islay. i started with the lightest and worked my thru to Islay. wish i'd started there, frankly, only i'd have never left.
-
there are an awful lot of people who look on that and are jealous. you are luckier than you make it sound, and you know it.
going to be reading from "Treasure Island" tonight, myself, after making the popcorn for the little guys. -
which scotch?
-
i hope you have a boring evening. and i mean that.
stay in. -
Tullamore Dew and ginger. They seem to make Egging on a cool night much more enjoyable. Will be the first winter with the Egg and can't wait to sit out in the snow with a drink to "watch" the Egg. :woohoo:
-
you probably had the 'Cask Strength'. they suggest 2 parts water to one part scotch. in theory, it turns an 90 dollar bottle into a 30 dollar bottle.
but i keep forgetting to add the water.
i like the peat.
this quarter cask continued to open up for a half an hour. fantastic nose. i think for drinking, i would go with 10 yr laphroig ( 16 year lagavulin is my favorite though). but the quarter cask was beautiful for drinking slowly -
Frank,
You can mix the dram with the scotch to save time  Ever try Glayva?

sounds like a plan. my wife knows i hate the cold, and she knows the egg needs no tending. but she never asks why i am out there the whole time. she sees the glass and understands.

I do mix the dram with scotch over crushed ice - usually a blended scotch so as not to taint a single malt. We call them kiltlifters
Glayva is eggcelent after dinner
Remember - I lived in the Highlands for 5 years - "See you Jimmy".
Tried as many as I could but not all - west coast whiskeys and Mccallums (aged in casks formerly used for port)are my favorites.
