My old felt gasket is just about gone ( my second one ) I have a bit of a leak from 12 to 4 o'clock and have tried everything recomended here. Now regarding the Rutland, do I put in on bottom half only, and do I pre heat it in the oven for a short time?
Thanks for any help.
Bon Appetit,
Willie

I put it only on the bottom, and there is no need to pre-heat it. It won't shrink like the nomex does.

What Fidel said. Works great.

Willie,
I followed the details from the Naked Whiz's site on the Rutland install (http://www.nakedwhiz.com/rutlandgasket/gasket.htm) and was successful with one exception.
Over time and a bunch of high temp pizza cooks the gasket is fine but the adhesive is failing and I will probably re-glue with automotive high temp gasket cement.
If you do high temp you might want to start with a different adhesive.
By the way I think we might be related.
Willie Lump Lump -
I've put on Rutland with permatex in late spring and this stuff is the real deal. I don't see it wearing out for very very long time. And I do pizza's high temp every week.
