I had to make a lump grate from expanded steel, had no plate setter or eggsperience. Tried a 2.5 lb. pork tenderloin. Cooked it in a rack with a drip pan at about 375 for an hour. Used apple wood chips and a little "Raising the steaks".
All I can say is "WOW". I don't foresee ever using my gas grill again.

Gas grills are great for:
flower pots
canoe anchors
utensil holders
space keepers
etc. :P -
lol. I just found that out. I'm a slow learner.

Hey Funk, welcome to the family. The good news is that your drip pan played a nice substitute for the platesetter.
Try cooking the tenderloins direct using a raised grid next time around. You can find directions for making your own raised grid on the forum.
Happy Egg'n -
thanks! I'll do more searching. This place is great. I have so much to learn, and I'm already old.
I like simple things. Not a lot of all these crazy(to me) recipes. Give me a match and a steak, that's about all I need. -
lol. Just tell me how hot, and how long. I'm happy.

As soon as I started cooking on my egg, I sold my gas grill then traded my smoker fer 2 bags of Dragon's Breath Coal..... Don't miss em a bit, and cleaned up my porch a bit!  :laugh:Hunting-Fishing-Cookin' on my EGG! Nothing else compares!
