I'm out of my DP Coarse Grind and am going to try Bad Byron's Butt Rub on 2 8 pound butts today. I noticed it does not have any sugar in it. Does anyone have any recommendations about the need to add sugar to this particular rub?

Never tried it, but I would think that a little brown sugar might be fitting.~~

I use it straight up, and have never seen a need to add sugar to it.
I guess you could cut it with sugar if you were doing ribs. -
I use it as it comes, never even realized it had no sugar, so obviously, I've never missed it. You could certainly add some dk brown if you want, won't hurt a thing.

I'm doing two 8# pork Butts. I might just add a light mustard coating and then a second coating of rub.

Last one I made I used Butt Rub with DP swamp venom and turbinado sugar.

Grillmeister came up with a mix of 2/3 butt rub and 1/3 turbinado sugar for wings, mighty tasty. Should work on butts too.
wing cook is coat wings couple hours ahead with rub mix, cook raised grid direct at 350ish till cripsy, about one hour. the exact recipe is in 2006 or 2007 eggtoberfest recipe book.

I just put some ribs on with BBBR and I put a light coat of sugar on top of that. When it liquified, I recoated with bad byrons. I'll let you know how it turned out this afternoon.
As far as butts, I just use the bad byrons alone -
Two butts. One with straight Butt Rub and the other with a 50/50 mixture, and see if you can tell or like the difference.

You must always eggsperiment then share your results. :cheer:
