OK I just finished some of the best wings I've made yet and now the egg is settling down so I can put my Boston Butts on. The beverages are flowing and I'm sitting outside on the computer. Doesn't get much better than this. The BGE is fantastic!!!!!

No one has to respond but I can't believe how well this cook is going. I hope I don't jinx myself but this is incredible. The temp is staying at 230 - 240 and maintaining. Temp of butts so far are 62 and 63. Perfect!!!!
-
Fun, isn't it?
-
Yes unbelievable, when it works out. But not the temp is going up for some reason....not so much fun
-
Tap the daisy closed a little, see what it does. In 5 mins, if nothing , close it a little more, have a drink and say &$(# !
-
Just grabbed another beer...Temp is almost 280...too high ..vents almost closed...what should I do
-
What temp do you need? Keep shutting it down...slowly. Oh, you're doing a butt. Need 250? 280 won't hurt it.
-
225 to 250 tops
-
I've done lots of them around 275...it will be o.k. Your temp will prob. start to fall in a min.
-
Internal already at 106 only after a hour and 45 minutes. Kind of fast?
-
No, not really. I've had 10 pound butts done in 6-7 hrs. You never know. You are ok. Don't worry.
-
All three that I have done climbed fast but stalled for about 3.5 hours at the 160-170 mark.
-
so when do u think I could go to bed? 2 hrs on and internal at 113. problem is both vents closed.
-
I have both vents closed. Dome opened 6 inches to lower temp. Temp s now 250. What should I do?
-
DOME OPEN 6" WILL RAISE THE TEMP!
-
You're right. ow it's back down to 275
-
The less attention you pay to the internal meat temp for the 1st 12 hours, the better off you will be.
-
So I can go to sleep now...lol
-
I'm afraid of he dome temp rising too much.
-
Mark,
Both vents should be close to close (.5 cm) and you're good.
If you're lookin; you ain't cooking

The steadiness of the egg allows more time to concentrate on one's drinking skills.
-
I pulled off at 7:45 after they reached 200. Only took 10.5 hrs. Looks good though
-
If it's at 200...it's perfect! Good job. You can wrap it and get some more sleep.
-
That sounds great, Mark. I'm glad you are enjoying your egg so much and it sounds like it's getting easier for you.
FaithHappily egging on my original large BGE since 1996... now the owner of 5 eggs. Call me crazy, everyone else does!
