Wassup eggheads?, I ran out of fire cubes, and was looking for something to light my egg. I tried some lump paper bag, didn"t work, so i reached down and grabed a couple hands full of pine straw in the yard and "Wow". It got hot real fast and lit the lump in record time. In about two minutes all the lump was hot and ready to go.
Just when i was ready to cut the pine trees down, they are now of some use. Just thought i would share my free fire starter with you...Peace...

Sir,
How much did you put in?
Brilliant!
I used some lump this winter to thaw about 4 foot of earth to dig the footings for my out door kitchen. Outa da box :P -
Not much ripnem, just two semi good hand fulls. I didn"t know whether i was going to get a funny taste on my food, but i did let it burn off before closing the dome. I"ve done it twice now with complete success..

Pine needles are great fire starters...But I can’t say I have ever used it in the Egg.
OTOH, I often use birch bark to start my Egg. It is very hot and fast too.
After logging off the “Back 40” I have at least ten thousand million tons of birch bark laying about the forest floor!
Anybody needs some, let me know and we’ll work out something! -
10,000,000,000,000. tons

Thats alot of Bark!!!!!!!!!

Great idea using birch bark! Pine needles also. You give me an idea to try curly cedar wood shavings from a hand plane. Pooof...flame on.

Okay...
So that may be a bit off or at least a poor estimate :P !
But it really is EVERWHERE!!! -
With good information like this listed on the Forum, you might put a dent in the overpriced fire started market.
Maybe a "Good Tip Forum" should be started -
Saw this on lifehacker, waterproof firestarters. Basically you use dryer lint, an egg carton (papery kind, not styrofoam), wax, dental floss. fill egg carton with lint (probably go with a cotton batch of lint to avoid the polyester fumes), cut up to sections, tie with dental floss and leave enough for a handle. and dunk in wax. You could probably use saw dust instead of the lint.
