I had some mold in my egg so I did a high heat burn to try to get rid of it. Iook it up to 700 and left it there for about 10 minutes and let it slowy come down to 450. Total burn time about 2 hours- beginning to end. My lid is now sealed shut. So how do I get it open. I read somewhere about dropping a lit starter cube in through the top. Wikll this allow me to open it without ruining the gasket.

Your gasket is toast probably. Slowly bring up to temp around 250 if you can get it lite. Take a knive to seperate. Hind site is best site, (wish I had that year back) parchment paper next time.

Looks like you burnt your gasket during your high heat cleaning. Parrafin cube will help. When I burnt mine, I placed parchment paper between lid and base to ensure they didn't stick. Good luck

Mike, this is too funny. I read the first post and as I am opening your reply I muttered to myself...your gasket is toast. I really laughed out loud.

We both know it probably is. LOL
A very good friend and true lady named Eennie Meenie did the same thing. She was in a panic. I told her the same thing. She would chime in, but is in Italy taking cooking classes. I need her for my sous chef in Branson, put a good word in for me.

I agree, Mike. The funny part was the verbatim thing, I just didn't add the 'probably'. Big George, we are not having fun at your expense. It just seems funny to me now that this forum is my major social outlet I am begining to sound like it. I really need to get out more.
