I decided to go with one of those light weight compressible coolers which I don;t have yet and a knife roll which I just got. All to go in the luggage. Heres the knife roll as I envision it filling for OKC.
And all rolled up...
Yay, I'm on my way!! Thanks for all your help.

I have the knife roll also and really like it.

I like that it will fit in my regular luggage as every bag is gonna cost me $50 this trip.

Doug what is the blue wire looking item?Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Plus a couple Pit Boss Pellet Smokers.

Enjoy Doug, OKC should be a great fest. It already looks like an allstar lineup.

Its a ceramic steel that comes with the edge pro sharpener, the ceramic bit slides into the rubber bit when it's away.

yelp...that knife rolls looks like ours does too. Hint...go to goodwill/ $1store and buy some tools...that way, if someone barrows a tool and forgets to return it...you're not out of your favorite knife, etc.
see you in a few weeks -
There'll be no borrowing my "favorite knife", the rest of it y'all can borrow freely, but I love my Tojiro, it will be in my hand the whole day . Oh, ok you can borrow it, please bring it back...

Wow, very cool. I have to order a cover for the Shun pairing knife my wife bought me so maybe I'll splurge for that as well. Thanks for sharing!

I was still figuring things out at the restaurant store and I said "wait a minute, do you have any knife rolls" and she did and it was only $30.
Well worth it I say...

That's exactly how we travel Doug, the roll up cooler does a good job of packing in the suitcase. Instead of a plate setter I use a sheet of HDAF folded in two on the main grid with an extended grid above, a little lighter than carrying a plate setter and works just as well. -RP

Yep everything I need except a way to do raised/indirect cooks fits in there. And you, fine sir, have solved that problem for me. See you there.
