Been wrasslin with a good way to streamline the cleaning proccess. I use an ash tool plus the custom ash shovel that fits into the vent guide. I've been cleaning my egg about a year now and I've use everything from a compressor to a gas blower the clean out the guide so it will "glide". When I've used the above mentioned implements I have incurred the ire of my bride and my neighbors (dust clouds) So I was knockin around the other day and came up with canned compressed air (usually for electronics). It works like a champ. one or two puffs and the glides are clean and easily adjusted.
So if I sound totally anal, I guess I am a victim of brain gas and beano won't help

If that is what is important to you then by all means it is what you should be doing and if others think it is anal, perhaps it is they that are Anal.

Umm, why don't you just close the vent? Cleans out the track nicely.
I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

our ozone layer cries every time you use that can =P -
Youve been cleaning yours a year. I haven't cleaned mine IN a year.

I agree the shop vac is a needed tool around the cooking area. Very few clean up jobs a nice shop vac can't handle.

People who use compressed air to clean the vent tracks, or a shop vac to remove ash, help keep the world in balance by counteracting the effect of those who rarely clean their Eggs. Balance and equilibrium are what keeps the earth spinning in its proper orbit.
