Cornfed,[p]Couple questions if you got a moment...[p]1. Why is Dr. BBQ cooking those loins on wood planks?[p]2. Is he cooking them on the large Egg or is that the new XL model? [p]I'm still recovering from my back surgery so I couldn't make the fest. Thanks for the great pics! At least I can pretend I was there now. Mac

Mac in NC ,[p]For 1, and I apologize to the good doctor if I'm misrepresenting things here, I think he said that he was cooking them on the planks since "it looked cool." I think he wanted indirect cooking, and the planks simply made things look cooler than cooking over a plate setter or whatever.[p]For 2, he was cooking on an apparently deprecated prototype XL BGE. The newer prototype is already deeper than the one he was using, which is apparently going to be returned to Atlanta BGE HQ sometime soon.[p]We missed you at the fest,

Thanks dude! I thought he had discovered a new use for alder planks or something.
I missed going to the fest too. However, October is only a few short months away... Mac

Mac in NC ,[p]Actually they were maple planks and it was the first time I've used them. I'm not sure there was much flavor but it was great for indirect and definitely a cool presentation.
