The egg looked great, and all the parts were there. The clips, the feet, the ceramic cap - all there. The thermometer was missing, so they just gave me the one out of the medium box that I returned.
??? - The therm for the medium is the same as the therm for the large, yes?
It doesn't have an overbite, underbite, or sidebite. BUT, it did fail the dollar bill test in the back (it was perfect in the front).
??? - But I figure some tightening should fix that, yes? There was still a *little* drag - not like it was totally gapped.
And the big bolts are not bent at all like they should be. So that's what I'll work on and I'll hope some tweaking will fix that....
AND, I forgot to test if the caps sat flush and if they stayed on when I open the dome. DUH. Hopefully that is ok.
YAY! A LBGE!!

It sounds perfect. Just loosen the top band and get a friend to push the dome down while you pull the band up. Then tighten till bent.
Your good to go. -
Oh, and he was misspoken. There were not mates on it.
-
Thanks! Will I have to put the white clips on to do this?
-
You made the right choice. ALL the toys are made for the large. Don't forget, in the beginning, to check the band tension every few cooks with a wrench. You may be surprised to find that you can torque them a little further from time to time. This will keep the bands from getting loose.
-
Also do not try to tighten the band bolts when the egg is hot
-
Yes. It's a must.
-
I own just the Large and one day I will get either a Mini or Small. Leaning towards the Small.
-
Congratulations! The best part of this is that you could not have made a bad choice. Enjoy!!

Now comes the fun part. Fire that bad boy up and try a few things. Food will taste differently from here on out. You'll be smiling every time you cook something. It makes cookin fun again and kind of exciting if your like me and yank the dome open at 600 degrees. You would think I would learn to stop that. Maybe you will learn more quickly than I. Torch it and enjoy.
