Many of the recipes I've seen for prepping ribs call for yellow mustard. In some I've seen it call for mustard and then put on your rub.Others have said to apply rub first to allow it to be absorbed by the meat, and then apply the mustard later. What are the feelings of the group?

    MerlinEgger,
Honestly it is up to you. I have found that the mustard helps keep the rub on. I have seen the mustard mixed with the rub too. I also have ssen a buttermilk mustard bath. The key is experiment, eat well, and try new things. Eventually you will find your own secret recipe. Have fun mang!

    MerlinEgger,
personally I like to let my ribs rest for 24 hours with the rub on. Then before the cook I take a spatula and spread a THIN coating of yellow mustard. Since I really like JSlot's 3hr 300 no peek method the mustard is gone by the time to wrap in foil. As Gfw always said here - the best ribs are the way YOU like them regardless of what others think!
