You can't tell by the pictures but it was raining like cats and dogs. Rain was pouring inside the cooker. I can not seem to regulate the temp.

Nothing that a few hundred bucks and a weekend or two won't solve!!! Just put my metal roof on last weekend (bought grey panels from HD that match trim). However, I did find that metal roof was no match for blowing snow, which covered the egg and table yesterday  !!! Melting today, back to cooking tomorrow. Just waiting for my first rain to cook in while dry !!!
Have fun,

We have an 8" flue cap that fits over the daisy wheel, keeps the rain out. If you use one, careful, some times the flue cap falls off when you raise the lid. Doesn't pull the daisy wheel off. No harm to the flue cap, just have to pick it up.

I want to put a roof on my deck but about 75% of the deck has an arbor> Where the BGE sits there isn't anything. I think it would look funny if I put a roof over the non arbor part. I guess when I build my table I will just need to leave room for one of those really large umbrellas.

Gee, for a mere $1,200, you can have a roof over your head. :cheer:

Sorry about the rain. But you probably have everything under control. I had a hard time keeping my temp up yesterday also. I just hope the business end of the orange is extension cord is unplugged!!! Have a great cook. :woohoo:

For $6-7 or so the big box stores carry vent covers. This one happens to have been leftover from a pool heater project and I had it powder coated.

simply fold over a long strip of aluminum foil, wrap it around the little handle on the top vent, and then fold over the top so that there is about 3 inches exposes for good airflow but so the rain doesn't go in. . .easy way to keep the rain from dripping down through top. .. .

Or you could get a restaurant sized can, punch some holes around the outside periphery with a church key and have a rain cover that fits over the daisy wheel for free.

Here's my solution to the rain problem.

Good advice guys. Thanks.
