I'm shopping for a cast iron DO for my Medium Egg. I'm looking for a fair price to pay for it. Thought I might get some input on this.

Check out Costco. I purchased a Kirkland enamalled cast iron dutch oven for $50. That is a whole lot less than the La Cruset that retails for $150 - 200. The Kirkland appears to be well made and will be fine for the amount I will use it.

cabellas and sportsmans guide if online, marshalls department stores sometimes have enameled ones 50 dollars or less. i think this one from cabellas would fit a medium but im not sure, its the one i would be looking at and its priced right

Check out Walmart, I picked up this Ceramic DO for $24
I picked up a 16 qt ceramic DO for $29.
I also have a 16 qt Le Creuset. After using it a couple of times in the egg I went to WM and got some less expensive DO's.
I also use normal CI DO's in the egg. It is all great eating when one uses a DO in the egg.

I bought a Lodge 7 quart cast iron one at Amazon.com about 6 months ago. At the time it was $39.99 with free shipping. I just checked and it costs more now ($60) and there is no free shipping.
They have a good selection and it would probably be worth it to check them after Christmas and see if they changes prices or free shipping.Large BGE

6 hours into a Bottom Round Roast after browning in the DO. Haven't checked internal but will add carrots in about an hour for a 6:30 plate.

If you have any antique shops nearby, you might check them out as well. I recently found an old Wagnerware DO (5 Qt, I think) for $40.
I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

You could also try a thrift shop like Goodwill or Salvation Army if you want to save money. I am always a little freaked out about buying used cookware. Not sure if someone used the DO for changing oil in a car or something equally appetizing.

That egg is too clean!!! Dinner looks good though.

I keep seeing great deals like that but I too, wonder where it's been or what it has been used for.
Keep your eyes open for sales and you will find some great deals.
If you are only going to use the DO in an egg the lid seal is not important at all.
However, if you are going to also use the DO for camping a poor DO will have an ill fitting lid and a good DO will have an excellent fitting dome.
Look for circumference fit as well as slight lid warp. Even within brands there will be lid ill fitting. Use the eggers trusted friend and do a dollar bill test on the DO. There should be a pretty good tug all the way around the DO.
Again not too important if you are only going to use the DO in an egg.
