Turkey with stuffing

I plan on doing the T Day turkey on the large egg again this year. It turned out great last year. I would like to do it with stuffing in the cavity. Has anyone done it this way on the egg? I know it will take longer. Should I cook it at 325* or a lower temp for a longer time?

325 is good for me. pull it out at higher temps though, theres warnings all over the web about stuffing being unsafe in a cooked bird. its what i grew up with though and i hate stuffing thats not cooked in a bird. stuffing exposed to smoke is bitter in my opinion, tie the bird up so its not exposed, you lose the crispy edges but i dont like smoked stuffing. did i mention its not safe :laugh:

Little Steven has a great method of simulating in the bird stuffing without actually being in the bird. I did it this year and it turned out wonderful.

Thanks for the advice. I don't think I would like smokey stuffing.

ill make a pan of that this year and compare it to what comes out of the bird. everything has to be perfect to live up to the memories

i like the kind of stuffing that is heavily packed for the sandwiches and the bird stuffing seems to be best for that. family wouldnt be as happy with the fresh herbs, newenglanders use bells seasoning around here :laugh: but stevens recipe looks very close to what we eat for stuffing

I normally do stuffing outside the bird but tried it inside this year and it was great with Max's method. I didn't add any wood to the lump though.

That stuffing works great but if you make it the same day you need to bake it without the foil til it turns the colour you like. You will get the crspy stuff on the top and sides of the foil pan. Leave the turkey parts on.
