Quick Question about Lump
llrickman
Posts: 654
I just finished doing some 1 1/2'' sirloins and am going to be putting on 2 7lb butts. Ive got the egg cooling down from 650 to 250
My question is I loaded the egg the the top of the firebox got it to 650 for my steaks.
Should i top it off with some lump before putting on my butts or should i have enough to cook through the night?
Thanks
Larry

I would top it off for an overnight cook, but that's just my opinion Why risk running out of fuel?

It should go the distance but you have to remove the grate to put the plate setter in any way so it wouldn't hurt to top it off.

I have a Medium -- and for me to cook overnight, even at Lo-temps, I need more fuel that just t the top of the firebox.
Load that sucker up -- You can always shut it down when done and re-use left-over fuel.
